Bourbon isn’t the most approachable summer drink. Even though it is known to heat things up in some of the best cocktails, most summer libations neglect this spirit. Here is a refreshing variation on the classic Manhattan using Eastside Distilling‘s Burnside Bourbon. Many bourbons are suitable for this but this gives the drink a lighter and spicy finish.

Mandarin Manhattan
(makes 4 cocktails)
Juice of 4 mandarins
1 ½ ounce of Burnside Bourbon
1 ½ ounce of sweet vermouth
4 dashes Angostura bitters

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the liquor, bitters, and juice. Shake for fifteen seconds. Strain into chilled cocktail glasses and serve.
Garnish with a fresh cherry or mandarin peel.

*If you want to make this into a punch, add 3 cups of club soda and triple the amount for each ingredient.
